CNA Saves it’s Clients More than $10 Million in First Year of IR Program:

Insurance companies usually focus on minimizing the amount of a loss after catastrophic events. But with FLIR cameras, CNA has developed an IR thermography service for its customers that helps to prevent losses from occurring in the first place. An IR survey can detect energy inefficiency or electrical faults before they become dangerous or costly oversights.
A thermal scan saved one CNA client over $4 million dollars in building damage and product loss! 14 faults were found in a fruit processing facility, one of them critical. At the fault location there was already evidence of charred and melting insulation. If the electrical problem had gone unnoticed, the damage at the fruit plant could have been catastrophic. With high-resolution images of this critical electrical problem, the staff created an action plan to correct the fault with minimal inconvenience and expenditure.

Savings and fault prevention are real, measurable benefits of thermal imaging. With fifteen FLIR P65 cameras and 50 trained thermographers on staff, CNA has made an investment in IR imaging. Now, both customer and company are reaping the rewards. Infrared’s ability to detect faults that may go undetected by the naked eye make it a lucrative investment for preventative maintenance and claim investigation, and must-have for any insurance company.
