FLIR’s Reporter 8.3 Software Includes TripleFusion and Mapping Capabilities

08/18/2008

BOSTON, Massachusetts (August 18, 2008)FLIR Systems, Inc., the global leader in infrared cameras, announced today the addition of FLIR’s TripleFusion enhanced Picture in Picture (PIP) capability, and Global Positioning System (GPS) mapping support to its report generating software, Reporter version 8.3. FLIR’s Reporter software allows infrared camera users to quickly and easily create professional and customized reports, useful in evaluating and communicating infrared inspection results.  “The Reporter software’s enhanced imaging capability has been a big help creating reports with images that clearly show the problem.  My clients don’t have to be trained in infrared to see what is going on in the blended infrared and digital images,” said Richard Hale, Vice President of The WassHale Group. With TripleFusion and Reporter 8.3, users can easily superimpose a smaller infrared image inside a visible light photo. Reporter 8.3 users can even move and size the PIP anywhere in the photo to show the right level of detail. Reporter 8.3 also has exclusive interval and blending fusion to help make images in reports more discernible and compelling. Another feature of Reporter 8.3 is that it takes advantage of the productivity features of FLIR’s new P660/B660/SC660 infrared cameras.  These new cameras have built-in GPS capability. A FLIR P660 customer, for example, can click on the Google™ Maps icon located within the Reporter 8.3 image to view the Google Maps satellite picture.  This allows users to easily add maps, directions, longitude, latitude, and altitude readings to reports. Similar to earlier versions, Reporter 8.3 is a Microsoft® Word based solution, which makes it intuitive and easy for users to create reports using spell check, formatting, and the templates customized for the FLIR reporting application. Trending helps track thermal information of infrared surveys to help with predictive and preventative maintenance plans. Other advanced features include digital zoom, color palette changes, automatic conversion of reports to Adobe .pdf format for easy emailing.  FLIR offers a number of high-quality, affordable cameras suitable for a wide-variety of applications.
